Bus Routes

La Jolla Village is served by MTS bus routes 30, 41, 101, 150, 201, 202, and 921. I-5 is accessible from Nobel Drive, La Jolla Village Drive, and Gilman Drive.

Car Sharing

ZipCars are located on UCSD. Enterprise Rent-A-Car is located at the La Jolla Corporate Center off La Jolla Village Drive. Uber, Lyft, and taxis serve La Jolla Village.


FlixBus offers service across California and to Las Vegas and Phoenix.

Super Shuttle provides convenient shuttle service to the airport.

Tesloop offers service from Starbucks in La Jolla Village Square to Orange County and Los Angeles.


The NCTD COASTER commuter rail line serves the Sorrento Valley station and runs from Santa Fe Depot near downtown San Diego to Oceanside. From Oceanside, the Sprinter runs east to Escondido, and the Metrolink Orange County Line (to Los Angeles Union Station) and the Metrolink Inland Empire–Orange County Line (to Riverside and San Bernardino) run northwards.

Amtrak's Pacific Surfliner runs from downtown San Diego to Sorrento Valley (limited service), Oceanside, Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and San Luis Obispo.

A Mid-Coast Trolley station is being built on Nobel Drive at La Jolla Village Square. Service is anticipated to start in 2021.

Gas Stations

There is a Mobile gas station on the southeast corner of La Jolla Village Drive and Villa La Jolla Drive, across from UCSD and Rock Bottom. Or go east on La Jolla Village Drive, crossing the 5 and the 805, then another mile or so for cheaper options. There is also a Chevron at Nobel Drive at Genessee next to McDonald's.


Parking is free but scarce. A parking garage is under construction at La Jolla Village Square, and parking is easy to find near PetSmart. Overnight parking in the shopping areas is prohibited.

Via Sonoma is a good place to park overnight. Please lock your cars and remove your valuables. There is little crime in La Jolla Village, but when it happens, it's usually crimes of opportunity.


UC Cyclery is a bicycle shop in La Jolla Village Square. Nobel Drive is a good east-west alternative to La Jolla Village Drive, until Miramar Road where there is no good alternative (unless you go north to the 56 bike path). Torrey Pines Road will take you north along the coast, and a bike path along the 5 from UCSD to Sorrento Valley is under construction. The Rose Canyon bike path will take you south to Pacific Beach and Mission Bay.
